Frequently
Asked
Questions

How powerful a generator do I need for my home?

Every home is unique. We will assess your needs based on the frequency and duration of downtime, as well as the essential appliances you want to power. In addition, we check your energy consumption data to make sure we're not selling you a generator that's too small or too big for your needs.

Which region do you serve?

We operate throughout Greater Montreal and within a 2h30 radius of Blainville. We also cover the Estrie, Abitibi and Outaouais!

How long can it run continuously?

It depends on a number of factors, but on average, with two propane tanks, you're talking about three to five days of continuous operation. With natural gas, it's infinite, because there's never a shortage of gas... as long as you're connected to the grid!

Does the generator make a lot of noise?

Generac generators are ultra-quiet. At 23 feet, it generates around 67 dB. Not enough to wake you up... unless you're really sensitive to noise.

Can I use the generator to power my entire house?

Yes, you can, but it depends on the model you choose. Generators from 22 KW to 26 KW can power an entire house, but for energy-hungry appliances, you may need to add load-shedding modules. It's a case-by-case decision, but it's entirely possible.

How much does it cost?

Our prices vary depending on your particular needs, but to give you an idea, they range from $10 000 to $20 000. Don't panic, if you don't have that amount on hand right away, we have a monthly financing solution, starting at $39/week.

Why does a generator cost less at Home Depot, Costco, or Rona?

Because at that price, you're only buying the generator. A whole series of essential components are missing: transfer switch, winter stand, gas or propane connection and, of course, remote technician support. It's a bit like buying a TV without an HDMI cable or remote control.

What is the interest rate for financing?

The rate is 12.99%. Yes, it may make you wince, but this rate allows our partners to finance at a reasonable cost while offering the flexibility of an open loan with no penalties.

How long do I have to pay for the generator?

It depends on you. On average, our customers opt for four-year financing. But don't panic, you can repay faster, and often the financing is transferred to your mortgage or line of credit even before you reach four years.

Does a generator increase the value of my property?

Yes, just like a heat pump or swimming pool (but more useful in the event of a power failure). It's a plus for homes at risk of flooding, or where electricity is crucial for telecommuting, for example.

How long does installation take?

Nothing too complicated! Your selected team arrives in the morning, and it's usually over in less than three hours.

How much gas does the generator consume during power-up?

The consumption varies according to size and type of fuel. With natural gas, there's no problem, as the network is infinite. With propane, depending on generator size and load, consumption may vary. Ask for the full technical table to see all details.

Do I need a permit to install a generator?

It depends on the city, so it's important to check (we'll do it for you). Some cities require a permit, but if you decide to install the generator without one, it's at your own risk.

Is there a specific place to install the generator?

Yes, there are strict standards. For example, the generator must be three feet from any flammable material and five feet from windows or air outlets. And depending on your city, specific requirements may apply. Rest assured, our experts make sure everything is in compliance.

Can I choose which appliances to suply?

Of course, it's tailor-made. During the installation, we help you to determine the essential appliances to be powered in the event of a breakdown. We'll also suggest alternatives if necessary.

What maintenance is required for the generator?

Annual maintenance is essential to keep your generator in top shape: air filter replacement, oil change, battery check, leak detection, and much more. If you use it intensively, it will also need servicing after 24 hours of operation.

Does the warranty still apply if I don't carry out maintenance?

Yes, as long as basic maintenance is carried out. However, unauthorized modifications or improper installation may void the warranty. Keep it in good condition and you're on your way to peace of mind.

Does the generator come with a warranty?

Yes, the standard warranty covers five years for parts and two years for labor. And if you're really the forward-thinking type, you can add a warranty extension of up to ten years. Did we tell you? Yes, we love peace of mind!

What should I do if my generator breaks down?

No need to panic! You'll be alerted via the Mobile Link app. Then contact your certified installer. In an emergency, they'll rush to your home within the day, depending on the degree of urgency.
